5 THINGS YOU MUST DO IN VENICE!
1. Go for a ride in a gondola
Be prepared to pay a pretty penny (think $100 for a 45 minute ride), but can you really come to Venice and not go for a gondola ride? We chose to ride during the day, but it would probably be even more romantic at dusk curled up under a blanket. Stop by any local market and grab a cheap bottle of wine to split whilst being serenaded under the starts. Dreamy!
2. Take a stroll along the Ponte dell'Accademia.
This impressive bridge is located along the southern part of the Grand Canal and boasts gorgeous views of the water. Plan to stop by near sunset for incredible pictures!
3. EAT.
This one sounds a bit cliche considering the food all over Italy is amazing, but I found this to be especially true in Venice. Dining is an experience in Venice, and it is import to just take it all in. Sit outside in the sunshine beside the canals and watch the gondolas roll by. I suggest stopping by Ristorante San Provolo and ordering a pizza with prosciutto (delicious)! Make sure and leave room for Gelato after each and every meal, even breakfast. It will seriously blow your mind.
4.Take the elevator to the top of St. Marks Campanile.
More commonly known as St. Marks Bell Tower, this towering structure offers sweeping views of all of Venice. Lines can often be long, so try to go at a time when the crowds have calmed down. Seven Euros will get you to the top and it is completely worth the expense. The views are stunning and you really get a sense of how incredible the city is.
5. Get lost amongst the streets.
Set aside a few hours in your day to just wander. Venice is an amazing city with hidden treasures around every corner. Some of my favorite moments were just wandering the streets and finding hidden gems. A quaint bridge, a house covered in flowers or the sparkling turquoise water; Venice is magical so embrace it!
