WHERE TO STAY IN PORTLAND: THE JUPITER HOTEL

As you guys can probably tell from my Instagram posts (are you following along) and lack of posts here on the blog, I have been traveling like crazy lately! My sister was in town for a fun 10 days, and we did a complete tour of the Pacific North West. First up is the beautiful and eccentric Portland Oregon.

Portland is a short three hour drive from Seattle and had been high on my list of places I wanted to visit. I'll be sharing all of my food and drink recommendations next week, but for those of you who may be planning a trip sometime soon, I wanted to share our amazing hotel, The Jupiter.

The Jupiter is a retro, midcentury motel that has been transformed into a hip boutique hotel in the center of Portland. I seriously felt transported to another era the moment we drove onto the property.

THE ROOMS:

Each of the rooms at The Jupiter feature bright, clean and minimalist design with amazing wall murals. How cool is it that we got to share a room with Marilyn Monroe? I couldn't help but want to share my coffee with her every morning. Fun fact, the mural is also a chalk board, so scribble away! The beds were comfy and the room was large enough for both my sister and I to have our huge suitcases open, so that is always a bonus in my book. It was the perfect home away from home in Portland.

THE ATMOSPHERE:

One of my favorite parts about the hotel were all of the amazing common spaces. The touches of mid-century throughout the hotel made me feel like I was in Palm Springs and I loved it. Portland has similar vibes to Palm Springs but with a Pacific North West spin. A few of the pictures below were taken in their event space the DREAMtent. How amazing would this space be for a wedding or party? I loved that there was greenery everywhere and lots of cozy seating. Hang out here during the day and read a book or just relax and take in the scenery.

The staff at The Jupiter Hotel were all amazing and incredibly nice. My sister and I couldn't check in until really late at night and they were really helpful with parking. The guy who checked us in even gave us a list of recommendations for local restaurants that we needed to try. I am always a fan of a staff that goes above and beyond, and this was definitely true at The Jupiter.

THE FOOD + DRINK:

Technically a separate property, but basically attached to the hotel is the Doug Fir Lounge. Part amazing small music venue and part delicious diner, the Doug Fir did not disappoint. Although we didn't get to attend a show, we did geek out that our childhood fave, Vanessa Carlton, was playing the next weekend. Seeing a show there is definitely now on my list of things I have to do in Portland. We did however enjoy a delicious breakfast at the restaurant both mornings and the food was AMAZING. I felt like we got so many food recommendations for Portland, but the breakfast here might have been our favorite meal. Order the hash browns and thank me later!

We obviously had to jump in the photo booth!

Our stay at the Jupiter hotel was everything we could have hoped for and more. I am already planning my next trip back to Portland and will definitely be staying at The Jupiter.
